Croatia : Navarro

Navarro band was founded in 2011. They started as duo and soon more members were joining. Creating music in garage is how so many indie-bands start and so did Navarro too.

2012 they recorded their 1st demo "prelude" and won 1st place in local debut bands forum. That lead to the recording contract and finally 1st commercial single was released.

Croatia : Moskva ft. Ivan Dečak

Moskva group is coming from Rijeka. They made debut 1.5 years ago and have released 1 album so far. This track "svijet je nas" (world is ours) is first single from their 2nd album :)

This is new group and members have been part in various different groups for the past 10 years. That explains many things, just as their sound which is as ready as ready can be.

2014 EUROPE DAY 25/28 CROATIA

On Friday 9th of May was inside European Union held the Europe Day,which is celebration for unity and peace in short. #EUopendoors  

I thought it could be suitable for creating an special edition in this blog also and naturally it means lots of work for me, but this is so much fun :)Because of my accident I felt unable to continue the serie for the remaining nations, so I do it today instead.

In couple of weeks we have the EU elections so remember to use your right to vote!

EUROPE DAY 25/28 CROATIA

Jelena Rozga was born in Split 1977 and at the age of 6 she decided to become ballet dancer of her generation. She studied in Zagreb and soon she was getting known as the best dancer and was invited also abroad such as Osaka,Japan. She became the vocalist in group Magazin 1996-2006. Since that she has been on solo career and released 3 albums. Currently she is holding 1st place in croatian charts with the song "okus mentola (menthol flavor)"

Song is once again very catchy and for me I could after few seconds tell whom had written the song, Tonci Huljic. And about lyrics I could say one and the other, but I sang along from 1st hearing so that´s accepted having menthol flavor :)

Croatia Bojan Jambrošić

Bojan Jambrošić was born in 1985 and he started singing in children´s festival at the age of 10. Later he joined the band Larva which lead to the Croatian Idol and he won the 1st edition in 2009.
He released the 1st album in 2009 #bolji od ljubavi"  (better than love) and he sang the title song for croatian soap opera "ruza vjetrova / windmill" which became massive hit.

  He took part in Croatian dancing with the stars in 2010 and came 3rd.  This juror would have given from this dance 7 or 8, because it was OK, but in semifinal stage often is expected bit more. Bit more speed was needed, which is the name of the game in this dance, but clearly he has the talents for dancing too.

He has released 2 albums in total.

I have now watched this video for the 5th time in row. The music is superb and his voice I like a lot and I noticed myself singing along once again. Certainly the visual look in video attracts and dance certainly. Love it.

Croatia : Morso

Morso is poprock group coming from the city of Rijeka. They started making music together in 1998. Band has released 3 albums till now and some of you think, that it´s not much during so many years time. Story could be long, but I put it short. As so often the battle of the "name" happens it takes lots of time before that is solved and as it usually just is an name nothing more, such problems are hard to understand.

I am glad however that these guys decided that music is most important and kept the spirit high creating more. And here we are today. New interesting material is released and I am naturally curious to see, if this gets some reactions ;)

 

This song is amazing once again. Very clever popsong, that is not plastic like so many of the songs we hear daily from our radios. After each listening time you find something else. What interests me mostly  vocals,song or simply everything to put it easier. simply three letters WOW :)

Croatia : Maja Suput

Maja Suput , born in 1979 in Zagreb. She started her musical career in group Enjoy in 1998. She has released 5 albums and taken part in various song festivals. She has been also dancing with the stars and received huge success.

Croatia: Severina

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think on Severina is when she was performing Moja stikla in Athens 2006 "Africa, paprika"

Eight years after that Severina Vučković presents her 13th studio album, and name it's exactly like that "13th studio album" Severina was born in 1972 in Split, Yugoslavia (Currently Split, Croatia)

Her first album was released in 1988 becaming since then a major name in the Balcan music scene

Bosnia-Herzegovina/Croatia Mirza Soljanin & Nina Badric

Bosnia-Herzegovina is where I like to go back. Country, which had to pay very high price for freedom. Music they produce is amazing and touches my slavic soul.

This song is sung by two amazing artists in Balkan. Nina Badric from Croatia and Mirza Soljanin from Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Nina Badric, born 1972 in Zagreb. She debuted in early 90´s and turned more professional 1995. She took part in Croatian national final for Eurovision Song Contest 4 times: in 1993 with "Ostavljam te" , receiving 7th place, 1994 with "godine nestvarne" receiving 10th place, 1995 with "Odlaziš zauvijek" receiving 18th place and in 2003 with "Čarobno jutro" receiving 2nd place. She represented Croatia in 2012 with the song "nebo" receiving 12th place in semifinal. If I should comment on the eurovisionhistory part, that she got better and better while trying. She was robbed in 2003 and 2012 she took part in semifinal, which was stronger and the battle for the 10 places was huge. Song should have qualifield in my opinion.

Mirza Soljanin  ****  unfortunately I have no information about him. I found only gossips of all kinds online and those I am not adding here.  I have asked assistance from the PR manager of his and his fanclub.

Croatia: Maya Žaja

Maya Žaja, born 1984, is croatian artist and makes debute with this 1st single/video "hej frajeru"- Song is written by my friend MarkoTomasović. And I would have added this song here despite the friend-connection. This song is good :)

I liked the song a lot and all the quite familiar elements, which in my opinion makes the croatian music. This quitar, this klapa (male singing group,smaller choir) and melody. It was quite surprising later to find out, that what I thought as klapa was actually done only by the composer himself and the guy whom is in charge of the arrangements. That´s even more amazing :)

Croatia: Mejasi

Mejasi debuted 2006 and it´s 6 members are all young men around 21 years old. Group has just won the title newcomer last friday and released their new album last january.You can visit their website

Croatia: Elita

I know, I know. I didn´t plan to cover Croatia so soon again, but I couldn´t help it. This song was released in february and for my slavic soul it was again something worth sharing :)

Elita group is doing pop,rock,folk music. Group has been together since 2009, but now it´s time for the very 1st single Ružice, Ružo.

I find this song quite refreshing and something, what I wouldn´t expect to hear from Croatia. Still this is interesting and good. I also liked the tiny part, where parts of an very well known popsong has been lended. Did you notice?
Anyway as this is their 1st single I am eagerly waiting for more material :)

Croatia: Tiho Orlić

It´s time to show you stylish artist Tiho Orlic.
Tihomir Orlic born in Split 1976. Debuted in 1994 in group Thompson. He has also done solo acts on a side, which in my opinion is often a positive matter.
He took part in croatian musicfestival Split in 2004 with the song "Ostani"

His new video/hit is called "moja ljubavi" / my love which I love. I am not a rocker,quite rarely I like something like that, but this is working amazingly. The rasp in his voice,melody and whole song yeah this is good :)

Croatia : Petra Kovačević & L.I.P.E.

Bok Hrvatska! Our first visitors from Croatia have arrived :)

Croatia is amazing country for music and today you´ll hear too totally different songs. Both have common that songs are catchy and video can´t be better.

First one is from Petra Kovačević, born 1994 in Rijeka. 
Unfortunately I didn´t find much information about her, only that this is her 2nd single.

This melody is very catchy and maybe as I must admit, that balkan music has been for a long long time close to my heart and this touched me strongly. If only I would know the meaning of the lyrics, but maybe that is also to be changed :)  Enjoy my friends from this beautiful ethnic melody from Croatia.

Croatia is one of my favourites. Small country for a big holiday was the slogan, when I visited 1997. Croatia sings and almost in every town exist superb musicfestival. There is so much to show from Croatia, but let´s start with some of the new videos.

Lidija Bačić is born 1985 in Split and took part in her 1st musicfestival when she was 12 years old. Career has been filled with success and this song "viski" is now becoming an european hit. Tonci Huljic is born 1961 in Split, musician,songwriter and so much more. Founder of popular group Magazin. Song was written with in my opinion clever way, when Croatia was getting the EU membership. In song are going to look for a better life and all what´s missing is AJVAR which EU might not allow to bring. Funny video and catchy song.  Ajvar is a type of relish, made principally from red bell peppers, with garlic. It may also contain eggplant and chili peppers

ivan zak škripi veza   Ivan Zak is born in 1979 in Zagreb. As practically every artist so did he take part in Dora back in 2002. Dora is the national final for eurovision song contest. Song is very catchy and Ivan´s voice did the rest. http://www.ivan-zak.com/
