Coumba Gawlo, born 1972, is senegalese singer-songwriter. She debuted 1986 and is second best selling artist from Senegal after Youssoun Dour. She had hit in Belgium and France with "pata pata" 1998, so she isn´t totally new to europeans. She has released over 10 albums. At the age of 14 she had the highest award possible with the song "soweto".
For me she was totally new discovery and oh my how great songs she has and what a voice.
